Chester Centre of Mission

The Chester Centre of Mission is based in Ellesmere Port and works with communities and churches throughout the Diocese of Chester to resource and enable them in evangelism.

Its work includes:
  • Chester CoM bus projecta bus project, which runs weekly in Whitby Park, Ellesmere Port with the help of volunteers from St Thomas Church, Ellesmere Port, and also fortnightly in Eastham. The bus project helps resource churches in the Diocese of Chester in mission and equip them to reach out to their local area.
  • A narrow boat (‘Andrew’) where local groups are welcomed for a day out to hear the gospel and explore faith. Numerous groups make use of the boat, including: Narcotics Anonymous, local recovering alcoholics, Sea Cadets, a local homeless shelter and a group of adults with learning difficulties from the community centre.
  • AWE (action weekend experiences) – weekends of outdoor activities, including kayaking, mountain biking and walking, expanding existing relationship and exploring faith.
  • Building relationships with members of a local gym – getting to know them, sharing life and praying with them.
  • Leading Falcon Camp – an annual week-long camp for children that need a holiday.
  • Chaplaincy with the local Sea Cadets and developing chaplaincy work with Merseyside Police.
  • Reaching out to a local pub and café – visiting regularly, supporting the staff, building relationships and sharing faith with those in these places.
